A total of 1 082 742 candidates from the long-cycle program including 483 842 girls spread across 3 267 examination centers, are participating in the 59th edition of the State Exam throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and abroad. The event kicked off on Monday, June 22, 2026, in Lubumbashi, within the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province.

This year more than 2,353,123 candidates, including 48% girls, distributed in examination centers throughout the national territory are taking these tests. In her speech for the occasion, the Minister of State urged the finalist students to approach these exams with serenity, concentration and integrity. She invited them to trust the knowledge acquired throughout their school career, recalling that “true success is built through effort, seriousness and merit”.

The DRC government, through the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC), signed with the World Bank a memorandum of understanding of negotiations for additional financing for the Equity and Strengthening of the Education System Project (PERSE), this Friday, May 22, 2026.
